Yuja Panorama Added to Brightspace

To help get your course materials in Brightspace compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, the new standard for compliance with ADA Title II regulations, we have integrated a platform called Yuja Panorama with Brightspace. Panorama scans courses in Brightspace and helps in two ways:

• Provides instructors with tools to remediate accessibility issues in your courses.

• Provides students with alternative formats of documents in your courses.

Once a course is scanned, Panorama icons show up beside the modules and content items within the course. These icons have functional benefits for both instructors and students.

When instructors click an icon, the accessibility score will display with links to the report or the ability to re-scan the document. Here is a helpful video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Tbu-7kQHc

CATS will be adding Panorama to Summer 2025, Winter 2025, and Spring 2026 courses the week of November 17th. Fall 2025 courses will have Panorama functionality added after the semester ends to avoid disruption in live courses during instruction.

CATS will provide training on how instructors can use the platform to remediate course materials, but you may also start working with the platform and remediating issues as soon as you have access to them. In addition to offering sessions on how to use Panorama, CATS will also start offering Accessibility training. Our goal is not only to comply with the new federal guidelines, but also to create an inclusive learning environment for all our learners. While the Panorama platform aims to resolve and remediate accessibility issues, it is important to ensure continuing accessibility in all future courses to best serve our learners. To this goal, CATS will also offer workshops focusing on accessibility, from accessibility tips and tricks in Brightspace to creation of accessible course materials and videos in a variety of applications.

Training will kick off in November 2025 with a Yuja-led session for faculty on how instructors can use the new platform to remediate course materials. CATS will be sending out the training schedule soon and will ensure the sessions are also added to the Commonwealth University Training Calendar.
